The Power of Movement & Community
Inspired by my experiences of training in London's boxing scene, I encountered the power of movement and the power of community.
Although boxing is a single-participant sport, you are never alone; whether hitting pads, sharing a bag, sharing some wisdom, part of class or holding someone's feet while they do sit-ups.
Training together was what maintained my sense of self and reminded me that I was exactly where I needed to be. Doing something that's good for the body, that gave me a sense of achievement and a closenss to others could sustain me forever. Training together builds bonds, builds accountability and motivates us.
In our modern world, the domain of information and intelligence increasingly belongs to computers, while all the things that cannot be automated underpin our own humanity; our physicality, our mentality and our emotions.
Movement renews our sense of self, reminding us that we live in our bodies and this gives us agency. In a fast and chaotic world, movement reminds us that we have control over ourselves.
I founded REAL Movement Club as a way to celebrate the power of movement and community. Movement Club is for everyone and anyone who enjoys felt human experience.
When we move we live in the fullness of the moment - immersed in rhythm, attuned to the present, and alive in the process. Training together builds bonds, it builds accountability and motivates us. Together is a wonderful place to be.
Movement offers unlimited variety from our fingers to our toes.
They run - We move.
